This plan is an update to the County's adopted Plan of Bikeways (1975) and a sub-element to the General Plan. The plan seeks to encourage the use of bicycles as a general means of transportation, ensure the safety of bicycle users, and provide guidelines for the development, expansion, and implementation of the County's bicycle infrastructure.
The Plan covers bicycling issues in all unincorporated areas within the County of Los Angeles. It will also study the potential for new and improved bike paths along flood control facilities (rivers, creeks, arroyos, washes and drains). This map illustrates the scope.
The orange represents unincorporated county areas. The blue lines represent rivers, creeks, arroyos, washes, streams, aqueducts, etc.
We're not exactly fighting for rights to a topless or naked bike ride but if would you like to receive updates about the plan's progress and/or share your input on our plan? You can sign up for our distribution list by filling in your contact information on the public participation form.
